January 26, 2022 - I Thessalonians 5:16-18 (AMP)

In this day in age with social media and other outside worldly factors, we can get so consumed with what we don't have we forget about the blessings in our lives that we do have. Counting our blessings and making sure we express gratitude daily to God pleases Him. Gratitude is an attitude, a response of thankfulness to the kindness of God. Every good thing we have in our life is a result of His goodness, grace and mercy. Gratitude comes when we understand how much God has given us, how much He has done for us, and how little we deserve it all.

In Luke 17:11-19, Jesus tells a story of how He came across 10 lepers. They cried to him for mercy, and Jesus sent them to priests. On the way, they realized they were healed. Their leprosy was gone. Only one of the men turned back to find Jesus, fell at His feet, and gave thanks and praise. Jesus was grateful for his gratitude, but He also noted that the other nine had not returned to say thanks. Our God loves gratitude. A thankful heart and a voice lifted to God in thanks gets the attention of heaven. We should remember to thank God daily for the countless blessings in our lives.

What are you thankful for? Besides thanking God for what you have in prayer, have you ever done a gratitude journal? Let's be intentional about our gratefulness. Wake up every morning and take time to reflect on what you are grateful for and write it down. Not only does this make us feel better about what we have but it pleases our Father in Heaven. Seeing another day alone is enough for me to say Thank You Jesus!
